The Managed Server Program
WorkForce Software provides a full range of services to support
and maintain systems for customers who have deployed our time and attendance solution. The services start with telephone, web-based,
and e-mail support. Workforce Software also has an innovative
service called the Managed Server Program. With this service, customers
get the best of the ASP model and self-hosted model.
Under this plan, WorkForce Software provides customers a fully
managed server that is hosted directly at the customer's site. The
customer still owns the server that is running the time and attendance
suite. However, WorkForce Software manages the server on an outsourced
basis, including applying all required operating system, database,
and application patches and updates. This frees the customer from
having to worry about and learn the procedures for one more application.
The Managed Server Program has similarities to an Application Service
Provider (ASP), but none of the downsides. Similar to the ASP model,
the system is managed by a 3rd party firm with expertise in managing
the application software and environment. However, because the server
is owned and operated directly at the customer site, costs are kept
low. Performance and reliability are also similarly high since the
vagaries of the Internet do not affect system operations.
WorkForce Software's experts access the servers through a secure
Virtual Private Network (VPN) to perform all maintenance activities.
The only tasks that the customer needs to perform are regularly
changing backup tapes to ensure proper backups are maintained.
